So... what's the Impreza actually like?

Basically: Subaru capability in a lower, smaller hatchback for people who don't actually need an SUV.

The 2026 Impreza is a five-door hatchback with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, and a surprisingly roomy interior for its size.

Sport uses a 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER engine with 152 horsepower. RS steps up to a 2.5-liter BOXER with 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, plus a sport-tuned suspension.

Both trims use a Lineartronic CVT, both get an 11.6-inch multimedia system, and both give you 20.4 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats or 56.0 cubic feet with them folded.

Customer asked me...

The Impreza questions you're definitely going to hear.

Yes. Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard on both 2026 Impreza trims.
The biggest difference is the engine. Sport uses a 152-horsepower 2.0-liter BOXER, while RS gets a 180-horsepower 2.5-liter BOXER with 178 lb-ft of torque. RS also adds a sport-tuned suspension, unique dark gray wheels, and RS-specific interior details.
No. Both 2026 Impreza trims use a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission. If a manual transmission is a must, look at the WRX or BRZ.
The 2026 Impreza has 20.4 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear seats and up to 56.0 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks lowered.
Choose Impreza if you want a lower, more car-like AWD hatchback and don't need extra ground clearance. Crosstrek is the better fit when you want the taller seating position, added clearance, and more SUV-like capability.
